The Face of Poverty is Changing

No longer is it just a single man or woman dealing with homelessness, but whole families with small children who are dealing with poverty. Every one of us has walked by someone who is experiencing homelessness at one time or another and looked away.
Why? Because the problem of homelessness is big and complicated. We don’t know what to do or how to help, so we keep walking. But the problem is not going away. In fact, it’s getting worse. Ending homelessness won’t be easy. It will take all of us as well as courage, passion, faith, and a well thought-out plan.
01
Be Aware of the Need
Homelessness has a face, and it might not be the one you imagine. It’s a mom struggling to feed her kids. It’s a man who lost his job. Poverty affects fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, brothers, and sisters. It could happen to any of us, so it’s up to all of us to help end the tragic cycle of poverty. People experiencing homelessness and poverty don’t need excuses; they need help. It’s time to answer the call to action.

Help Fund Solutions to Homelessness
Join us by sponsoring and donating financially on a monthly basis to assist us in providing low income/emergency transitional housing in the areas of downtown LA, Lancaster, and Eagle Rock.
Encourage those struggling with homelessness about our resources and how we assist in their transition from homelessness through these steps:
Those struggling with homelessness are usually without financial resources or employment. The Harvest Home Program provides these individuals room and board for 30 days until they can acquire employment. The highly structured and supportive environment helps maintain focus and eases the transition back into everyday life.
(409-411 E 5th Street)
The Addison Home/Glendower Home is the next stage in the transitional housing program. Here, residents have greater freedom, but also more responsibility for working their recovery program. During the 4-week stay in the dormitory-style residence, participants must save $75 per week, follow all shelter rules, maintain sobriety and actively participate in various faith-based empowerment programs. (2349 Addison Way)
Help fund the Azusa Lighthouse Family Center in Lancaster, a 2.5 acre parcel of land that is ready to be developed. Once developed, this center will provide women and children experiencing homelessness the saftey, counseling, and training to escape it for good.
